Be Your Cause – Lesson Four

Believe in the power of your thought, the goodness of the universe, the worthiness of your being, the power of who you are, that all things are possible, and that you are the creator of your own reality.

– Harrison Klein

YOUR STORY

Read that quote above again. Do you get that? You are the creator of your own reality. You and you alone, are 100% responsible for your life. And how you shape your life, the narrative and the story arc and all the characters in your life, are all up to you.

What story do you want to tell about yourself? What characters do you want to have in your life with you?

You must start imagining who you really are underneath all those excuses. Who do you want to be??

You must EMBODY who you want to be, and embrace it. Live it, Be it, right now.

What can YOU do for you?

And ask, not what can I have but what can I give?

When you start serving, when you start giving of yourself, when you start giving instead of waiting for a return, the most incredible and wonderful abundance will flow into your life.

But you can’t give away what you don’t have.

Take an inventory of yourself. What do you have to give right now?

How much do you love yourself?

How committed are you to being number one in your life?

How much are you focused on you and your desires?

We must feel full from within before we can give to the world.

We are here to love ourselves first and foremost. We are not here on this earth to feel bad. We are not here to be ridden with guilt and fear and humiliation.

We are here to love.

We are here to share our gifts. But first, we must acknowledge the power of our gifts, and the power that resides in all of us.

YOU are a very powerful being! Open yourself up to the fact of how powerful you are. Embrace it. Embody it. This is the way to empowerment.

Being Your Cause is about opening your heart, connecting with your true self and releasing what is holding you back from sharing YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

What are your gifts? What do you have to share with others? What are you passionate about?

Shout it out!!

This is how you create your Mission statement.

You are on a mission! To do what?

For whom?

What will happen when you help them? What will the result be when you help them?

Use this statement as a way to formulate your mission:

I am on a mission to serve as _______________ for my community of ____________ so that ___________

Use juicy verbs! Use bold words! Make a BOLD JUICY statement about what you love to do!

I will share my own mission statement with you here.

Using the outline I shared with you above, I made a declarative statement:

I am on a mission to serve as an agent of empowerment for my community of Changemakers, Disrupters and Wholehearted Entrepreneurs who desire to be seen, heard and valued so that they can create the media platforms they love and lead lives of financial freedom!

This statement feels good because it states what I do and who I do it for and the result my clients receive from working with me. Financial freedom!

But it feels a little bit wordy for public viewing. I like to keep this statement for myself and read it every day. Instead, I want to put something a bit more concise out into the world.

Now that we have the foundation, we can play around with the language, adding or subtracting what works and what doesn’t.

I wanted my mission statement to be a bit more playful and speak directly to my tribe.

Next step is to ask people to give you some feedback – it’s good to ask for help!

I asked a few women in a Facebook group that I trust to help me liven up the prose a bit and this is what happened:

Are you a change maker, disruptor or wholehearted entrepreneur sick & tired of being invisible? I get it and am on a mission to help you create a media platform that ensures you’re seen, heard, and valued & creating a life of financial freedom!

Doesn’t that sound more fun? More alive? I love it!

Our work does not live in a vacuum. It’s alive and ever evolving and it involves others! So don’t hoard your work all to yourself, keep sharing, keep exploring, keep writing. You can always change your statement whenever you want!

Believe me, we cannot do all this work alone. It’s better to get feedback sooner than later, to ask for support and give support in return. It’s all about collaboration. (And a big shout out to Leslie Hamp who helped me craft this new mission statement!)

And you can do the same!

Find two or three people who you trust and who understand what you are trying to do, and see what your peeps come up with!

Please note: keep in mind that if you don’t like what your peeps say or recommend, GO WITH YOUR GUT. Create a statement that YOU feel good about, ok?

The benefit of this exercise is that when you hear back from people that resonate with what you are putting out there, your confidence will sky rocket.

Exercise #4

What is YOUR mission statement? Can you write that down, right here right now and declare it?

Write it out in the long version using the formula above – and then keep writing till you have a fun, lively and enticing version that you are really happy to share! I highly recommend getting feedback. It’s the first step to getting seen!

Use this statement as a way to formulate your mission:

I am on a mission to serve as _______________ for my community of ____________ so that ___________

Use juicy verbs! Use bold words! Make a BOLD JUICY statement about what you love to do!

I will share my own mission statement with you here:

This is the basic statement I work with and I tweak it according to my audience and platform (in person vs. online):

I am on a mission to help my clients empower themselves to connect to their hearts desire, take action to make it happen so that they can lead lives of financial freedom!

And then using the outline I shared with you above, I made a juicier, more declarative statement:

I am on a mission to serve as an agent of empowerment for my community of Changemakers, Disrupters and Wholehearted Entrepreneurs who desire to be seen, heard and valued so that they can create the media platforms they love and live lives of financial freedom!

Exercise #4

What is YOUR mission statement? Can you write that down, right here right now and declare it?

Write as much as you want here and then keep writing till you have a clear and clean one sentence description!
