Be Your Cause – Lesson Six

Now, to BE that person, you must create new habits of being.


What habits do you need to have that will support your Future Self?


Habits are really what determine the outcome of our lives. If we don’t know where we are going, we will never get there. If we spin around and around, reacting to the people and demands around us, we will find ourselves exhausted at the end of the day and depressed because we don’t feel any further along than we started.


Would your Future Self be on Facebook for 2 to 3 hours a day?


Would your Future Self allow negative head trash to talk you right out of what you want to be doing?


Would your Future Self decide to watch TV all night long instead of sitting at the computer to work on that amazing project that you dreamed up?


Most importantly, where is your phone? Do you respond reactively to texts throughout the day, abandoning your thoughts and actions? How often are you distracted by the “dings” on your phone, how often you do rush out of your own reverie, your own creative time, to go dwell on someone else’s virtual text island? Is it worth it?


And here is the real kicker – is your cell phone next to your bed at night? If you wake up first thing in the morning and grab your phone, you are sacrificing those early morning moments to dream and create and set the tone of your day before you even get out of bed.


Use that precious time to imagine yourself as your Future Self, imagine accomplishing those goals you have. Imagine yourself happy and relaxed and in a location that makes you feel good. Do this for at least 5 minutes before getting out of bed.


As often as you can, make decisions from that place of being your Future Self. Compare those decisions with the decisions that your present self might make. Do you see the difference?


Before long you will start to see your life change before your eyes because you are finally in the zone of potential, your very own true potential and your dream life will begin to be realized just from those simple daily decisions you make.


Exercise #6

What habits are you willing to give up? What habits are you willing to embrace and make a part of your daily life that nurture you, that are in alignment with who you need to be?


Do you need to get up an hour earlier to do meditation?


Do you need to go to bed an hour earlier so you can get up earlier the next day?


Do you need to eat better food so you feel better and get sick less often?


What is it that your soul knows you need to be in order to have what you want?


Take a few minutes and write them down now, just stream of consciousness, whatever comes up first. You know them already.
